“I do” the maldivian way * wedding in the Maldives

Filed in Wedding — November 25, 2012

When we came up with the idea to photograph Angi’s and Adrian’s wedding in the Maldives in October, I didnt believed this would really going to be happen. But once said, the idea started become a plan… And so, many weeks later I was on the way to the Maldives. Can you imagine my happiness? Photographing a wedding in the paradise – what a unique destination for a wedding. Beach, palm trees, tiffany blue water…

Arriving in the Maldives is different to other destinations. Once out of the airplane the warm salty air swepts immediately around your face and gives you the special holiday feeling! The TMA waterplanes are an adventure ride and flying over those spectacular atolls and islands is stunning. It is a paradise! Kuredu and Komandoo islands are offering a private lounge, where you can get free drinks, a cold towel for refreshment and a air conditioned area that makes the waiting time relaxing.

Arriving on the green Kuredu Island where our couple was staying for their holidays, I joined Angi at her Hair&Make-up appointment in the Duniyestra Spa. The ceremony was set to be for sunset, so we used the time to make some photos at the beach. A Dhoni gave us a ride over to a private sandy dream Island where the wedding took place. It was a mini Island, just sand, where couples can get married away from other tourists. The wedding planning team of Kuredu did a faboulos job: It looked fantastic. Walking over flowers through palm leafs in the sand, the couple was accompanied by drums to the ceremony which was held under a white tent. The ceremony was very touching and moving, and many wonderful details made it unforgettable. Sadly the weather wasn’t on our side that day: shortly after the ceremony big black clouds showed up at the horizon moving very fast towards us. But even with raindrops, a wedding in the maldives is just one of a kind!
